The following pictures demonstrate how CryptoBola JPEG is protecting your secrets.
Let's start with a small basis images, for the sake of visual demonstration.

This image does not contain any embedded data. The file size is 86 kilobytes; CrypoBola JPEG could hide maximum 19300 bytes of data in this image.

The original image with 12638 bytes of data embedded; this caused 5% distortion in the image, which is unperceivable with naked eyes. The embedded data is Chapter 18 from Voltair's Candide.

The original image with 19104 bytes of data embedded (Chapter 25 and 26 from Voltair's Candide); this caused 21% distortion in the image. The deterrioration of the image quality is very noticable. Note that even though the modification is visible, it can not be proven that other data has been hidden in the priginal image data, and, of course, the hidden data can not be extracted without knowing the passphrase.

Note, that the mosaic-like artifacts are not characteristic to the changes CryptoBola JPEG causes in the basis image. Such artifacts appear for example when creating a JPEG file from a strongly magnified image.

This is a "higher quality" version of the original image (with a lower degree of compression). The file size is now 139 kilobytes and the embedding capacity is 31 kilobytes.

The previous image with the same 19104 bytes of data embedded as before; this caused only 3.7% distortion in the image, which is not perceivable.

If more data has to be hidden in a single image, the basis image must be larger, stored in a larger JPEG file.

The original of this is an 8 megapixel image created by a digital camera. If compressed to about 2.9 megabytes, which yields a high-quality picture, the embedding capacity is about 750 kilobytes. Embedding 213 kilobytes data caused only 1% distortion; this is only a fraction of the change in image data caused by making the slightest change in the compression settings.

Anyone interested can download the original image and the one with the embedded data, compare them and extract the embedded data (right-click on the link and select Save Target As... to save the file). Warning: both images are about 3 megabytes large! Using the password DemoPasswordForMediumFile, 217,739 bytes will be extracted. (Note, that the trial version of CryptoBola JPEG can not do this, for it can extract only such data, which has been embedded by that particular program copy.) If even more data needs to be hidden in one image, an even larger basis image stored in a large JPEG file has to be used. The original of the following small image is 25,500 x 3150 pixel large (created by panorama technic from 14 images, 8 megapixel each):

When JPEG encoding the image, different quality settings result in different file sizes. If the resulting file is 20 megabytes large, then about 5 megabytes can be hidden in it; higher quality setting results in even larger file with higher embedding capacity.
